Costumes (for Sunday Scribblings)

Identity displayed and reflected
In an array of colourful costumes
We play like children
Dressing up as heroes and heroines
Of the tales we spin
By following one thought
After another
Enslaved by the stories
Of who we are and who we are not
We build our own prisons
Solidify our experiences
And convince each other that
Naked awareness
Is in need of dressing up

verification makes it really hard to comment. you'd get more comments if you turned it off. i had to do this several times to get it to work.

  3. I like the thought of raw consciousness and not, exactly, dressing it up. Interesting direction to take the prompt.

  4. Oh hear, hear!, Bravo! and all that. Beautiful bit, this. From’ Enslaved by the stories’ on to the brilliant punch of an ending is the naked truth!

  6. I don't know whether we could all take 'naked awareness.'

  7. I like your line..."enslaved by the stories of who we are and who we are not...yes, we can spin webs that wrap around our own souls.
