Reflections (for Jingle Poetry Potluck "Languages, Signs and Symbols")

We assume we understand each other’s signs
We’re looking out, listening in
And try to read between the lines

But maybe we’re just projecting our thoughts
On a virgin white screen
And reflections of ourselves
Are all that can be seen

  3. Being an English Literature student, reading signs and symbols and indeed language is something I have the toil of doing often.

"We assume we understand" - Everyone i'm sure can relate! It's so often that people have been misunderstood in translations (Most often in text messages!_

    thanks for sharing.

  4. I definitely think we form meaning through our own experiences and desires. It's hard not to when that is all you know, expect, and look for. Wonderful piece. Well spoken.

  5. so true! we see what we expect to see, and that is a reflection of our own experience.

  6. This made me think of the matrix because we are all projecting ourselves and our choices.
