Driftwood (inspired by We Write Poems)

I dive into the cool embrace
Of the liquid of life
My body elated, feather light
I float on my back
Feel supported and free
Only sky above
The ocean beneath
I ride on the rhythm of its breath
Every wave a small death
Like driftwood
To be carried away
And washed up on new shores
Full of new adventures

  1. We think alike about swimming in the sea. Nice poem. I've not heard the word "thrift wood" - is that the same as what we Europeans call driftwood?

  4. LOL...Vivien, I'm so embarrassed. I could say that I have a lisp but it's just my bad spelling ;-) I've corrected the mistake now!

  5. Isn't it strange that one person can feel 'supported and free,' floating on water while another would be petrified of sinking or of what might be in the water? You have definitely conveyed the former!
