What I want (inspired by We write poems)

I want the latest fashion
And lots of new books
Nice jewellery and perfume
Plus fabulous looks
A house by the sea
And comfortable wealth
No worries to think of
And everlasting health
Okay, I’m just kidding
Though sometimes it’s true
I run around wanting
Stupid things, have no clue
But honestly, if you ask me
If I had just one shot
I want to stop wanting
And be content with my lot

  1. Excellent conclusion. The Buddhists say suffering is caused by desire. Fun piece, I enjoyed the read. ~Brenda

  3. Brenda's absoultely right... but wanting to be free from wanting is still wanting.

    (Well, it IS! LOL!)

It's hard to be human and not want things... I think that's just the nature of being alive.

  4. Much of the time wants change with the moment and your poem says that clearly. Want is one small door into the room of hope. Yet, I fully comprehend your meaning of wanting to stop wanting. Happy Holidays,

  8. I agree about wanting to stop wanting, and even tht want is granted late in life. I like the way you turn the first part of the poem on its head.
